The Job
Reporting to the Principal Engineer and in collaboration with other Engineering Departments, the Test Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of tests in outboard dyno test cells. Other testing includes component rig, and full outboard motor testing on vessels.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Overseeing test procedures focusing on engine dyno testing but including full outboard testing and component rig test
- Developing test procedures, test cycles, and process documentation
- Specification, implementation, and calibration of new tests, instrumentation, controls, and logging equipment to ensure accurate test results to meet stakeholder requirements
- Specification, implementation, and calibration of test equipment to support dyno and vessel tests at customer/partner locations
- Daily management of test technicians including scheduling and prioritisation of test activities
- Initial results analysis and formal written report
- Leading development of new test methods and procedures
- Writing process documentation, and training technicians on new equipment and tests
- Ensuring maintenance and continual improvement of test facilities, leading to improvement of efficiency and accuracy of results
Skills and Experience Can you tick all of these?
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
- Experience of powertrain test set-up and execution
- Experience in a testing role, ideally an engine test environment
