The Client
The Client is a company, founded in 2015, that specializes in building composite yachts from 10 to 20 meters for the
superyacht industry. These are very exclusive custom-made tenders and chase boats.
An international team is working hard on the construction of the tenders and chase boats. Due to the growing order book, we are looking for a Lead Engineer/Naval Architect to expand our team.
The yard is specially equipped for building these composite yachts. The tenders and chase boats are built here from drawing to delivery. As a Lead Engineer/Naval Architect you are involved in the construction of our tenders from start to finish.
Job Overview
As a Lead Engineer/Naval Architect you are part of the project team together with the project manager. The Lead Engineer/Naval Architect is involved in one or two projects during the design phase and remains the technical contact during the construction and delivery of the tender/chase boat.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead throughout the entire lifecycle of the vessel — from initial design to final delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team throughout all project phases.
- Ensure the engineering deliverables meet the highest quality standards, focusing on performance, durability, and design intent.
Structure and manage the engineering workflow throughout the boat construction process, ensuring efficient execution from design to delivery.
Monitor and control engineering timelines, ensuring deadlines are met in coordination with the overall project schedule.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing Department to ensure timely design finalization and procurement of components and parts.
- Own and manage the master 3D model for each project, ensuring weekly updates and cross-team alignment.
- Serve as the main engineering point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strong professional relationships throughout the project.
- Ensure compliance with marine engineering standards, classification society rules, and client specifications.
Candidate Profile
- Completed HBO or WO education in WTB, Industrial Design, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
- Project management experience.
- Good command of the Dutch and English language (main language is English).
- Knowledge of Solidworks, experience in Rhino, knowledge of Autocad is an advantage.
- Affinity with composite, preferably in yacht building/water sports.
- Professionally and organizationally strong.
- Result-oriented and structured.
- Available 40 hours a week.
