Job Overview
We are seeking a full-time Senior Boat Builder to join a dynamic team in Cape Town. As a Senior Boat Builder, you will be responsible for leading a team of boatbuilders, overseeing the construction of high-performance sailing yachts using advanced techniques such as wet layup, infusion, and pre-preg. If you’re passionate about the performance sailing sector and possess extensive experience in composite boatbuilding, this is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of enthusiastic sailors and professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of boat builders.
- Utilise your expertise in carbon fibre, pre-preg, aramid, honeycomb, and kevlar to ensure the highest quality construction standards.
- Implement advanced processes including vacuum infusion, wet-lay lamination, and secondary bonding.
- Collaborate with the management team to meet project timelines and quality objectives.
- Strong problem-solving skills are essential for effectively addressing any challenges that may arise during the boatbuilding process.
- Demonstrate an understanding of specialised construction requirements for high-performance sailing yachts.
Candidate Profile
- Significant experience and expertise in composite boatbuilding techniques.
- Relevant qualification in boatbuilding or a related field.
- Experience with performance race boats preferred.
- Excellent English language skills.
- Advantageous to have sailing handling skills.
