Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Engineer – Electrical Systems, you will be at the core of our operations, responsible for overseeing and coordinating electrical systems within our explorer yacht projects, ensuring alignment with project specifications, budgets, and schedules. Your primary responsibilities encompass:
- System Design and Coordination: Your primary responsibility is to oversee the design, coordination, and implementation of all electrical systems in our explorer yacht projects, ensuring they meet project specifications, budgets, and schedules..
- Engineering Package Development: Take the lead in developing a comprehensive engineering package, encompassing all electrical systems to meet our quality standards and exceed client expectations.
- Information Management: Efficiently manage the collection and dissemination of essential technical information to support electrical system design and implementation.
- Feasibility Analysis: Investigate the feasibility of electrical systems within the project context, establishing detailed requirements, and issuing comprehensive procurement orders for required work.
- Vendor Coordination: Effectively communicate and manage tasks with external vendors and companies responsible for electrical system-related work, ensuring high-quality standards and compliance.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee, execute, and control the work and documentation produced to meet relevant class approvals and maintain our commitment to exceptional quality.
- Project Scheduling: Vigilantly monitor electrical system engineering planning to ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with established objectives.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Project Lead Engineer, Head of Projects, and Project Managers to proactively address project-related issues and facilitate smooth communication.
- Cost Control: Maintain a focus on the cost framework of electrical system engineering, monitoring hours consumption and quality aspects, and promptly addressing variances.
- Market Awareness: Stay informed about market developments related to electrical systems and formulate strategies to ensure our projects remain competitive and innovative.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all electrical systems adhere to applicable regulations and standards, providing effective solutions to challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
- Budget Management: Identify upfront costs, negotiate additional work arrangements where necessary, and effectively manage the engineering system budgets for projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively seek opportunities for electrical system efficiency and improvement, contributing to our commitment to excellence and innovation.
- Staff Development: Provide essential data to support the training, education, and professional growth of our staff, enhancing their capabilities in electrical system engineering.
- Corporate Culture: Contribute to the development and maintenance of our corporate culture, emphasizing a commitment to working conditions, environment, order, and cleanliness as integral aspects of daily activities.
Candidate Profile
- A relevant technical education at HBO level, with a preference for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field, such as naval architecture, marine engineering, or systems engineering.
- More than 5 years of proven experience in a senior engineering role, with a focus on electrical systems engineering in explorer yachts or other large vessels.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
- Extensive knowledge of marine electrical engineering systems, materials, and construction techniques.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- A deep understanding of industry regulations and classification society standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.
- A strong passion for yachting and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
- Advanced software knowledge, including proficiency in AutoCAD, CADmatic, Windows, Share Point and Microsoft 365 as applicable.
