The clients office is based on the Southcoast of England close to Southampton. 

Job Overview

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in product development and enhancement, collaborating closely with the Head of Design to bring innovative solutions to market. Your responsibilities will span the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualization to final drafting, with a focus on engineering calculations and the application of Solidworks FE analysis. Working in our Totton office, you will lead and guide junior designers to ensure the production of high-quality design and drafting for various projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Design to develop new products and expand the size range of existing products.
  • Lead existing and new projects, overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from concept to final drafting.

Engineering Ownership:

  • Take full ownership of engineering and calculations for projects, employing both hand calculations and Solidworks FE analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and industry regulations in all engineering processes.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with junior designers to achieve high-quality final designs and production drawings.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to the Head of Design.
Candidate Profile
  • Good conceptual and engineering skills with a keen understanding of load paths on systems.
  • Proficient in CAD practices, preferably with experience in Solidworks for modeling and drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, with experience in composite design being advantageous.
  • Capable of working independently on projects while maintaining a collaborative approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in design and drafting. – Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiar with Rhino
