The Client

Our Client specializes in the design, manufacture, and supply of high-performance amphibious motorboats. They are a leader in the industry, offering innovative products that combine speed, manoeuvrability, and versatility for both land and water travel.

They are expanding their production capabilities and are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to join their team and lead various critical aspects of the business.

 

Job Overview

The Operations Manager will be based at headquarters in Caen and will play a pivotal role in overseeing key departments, including Production, Supply Chain, Industrialization, Security, Site Management, Operational Treasury, and Finance.

The primary focus of this role is to optimize our operational efficiency, streamline processes, and successfully facilitate the transition from producing 15 boats per year to 50 boats per year. The role may also encompass the management of the R&D department, depending on the candidate’s profile.

Key Resposibilities

Production Management

  • Ensure efficient production processes and workflows to meet production targets and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify areas of improvement and implement best practices for increased productivity and quality control.
  • Monitor and analyze production metrics and implement strategies for continuous improvement.

 

Supply Chain Opimization

  • Oversee the supply chain to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and components.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with suppliers to enhance reliability and minimize lead times.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and implement contingency plans.

 

Industrialization and Capacity Expansion

  • Lead the effort to scale up production capabilities from 15 boats per year to 50 boats per year.
  • Develop and implement plans for expanding the manufacturing facilities, machinery, and workforce to accommodate increased production.

 

Security and Site Management

  • Ensure a safe and secure working environment for all employees and visitors.
  • Collaborate with relevant authorities to adhere to safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Oversee general site management, including HR-related matters and facility maintenance.
  • Operational Treasury and Finance:
  • Collaborate with the finance team to create and manage budgets for various operational activities.
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to optimize cost-efficiency and profitability.
  • Boat Building Expertise:

    • Utilize previous experience in boat building to provide insights and technical expertise to the team.
    • Foster innovation and improvements in boat design, construction techniques, and materials.

     

  • R&D Management (Depending on Candidate Profile)

    • Oversee the Research and Development department to drive product innovation and improvements.
    • Collaborate with R&D teams to develop cutting-edge features and technologies for our motorboats.

     

Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a similar operations management role within the boat-building industry.
  • Familiarity with the organization and processes of a similarly sized manufacturing facility.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills to motivate and develop cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify process bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with different departments, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Salary EUR 60,000 – 80,000/ year DOE
